As we travel around the area we see many things. We can see streets lined with trees, houses surrounded by shade trees, flowers blooming in city and rural yards alike, fields full of soybeans, and fencing, usually barbed wire. But if you took the wayback machine to a decade or so before Braidwood existed, the landscape truly looked different.
All of those things mentioned have always been there and we can hardly imagine what it would look like without them. Let me paint a picture of what the natural landscape looked like in 1850.
