Bette Stutts

WILMINGTON— Bette Stutts, 88, of Wilmington, passed away Wednesday, April 07, 2021 at her home.
Born Jan. 31, 1933 in Coal City, Bette Mae was a daughter of James and Rose (Mlynek) Vilt. She was raised in Coal City before relocating to Wilmington where she graduated with the Wilmington High School Class of 1950. On Dec. 26, 1953, Bette married James Stutts, and together they raised their family and made their home in Wilmington.
Bette was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Wilmington, and enjoyed volunteering for both Kuzma Care Cottage, as well as the Caring Closet in Wilmington. She will be remembered for her enjoyment of flower gardening, but most of all for her love of family.
Survivors include two daughters: Kathy (Charlie) Stewart of Braidwood and Nancy (Jeff) Dillon of Wilmington; six grandchildren: Kyle (Kristie) Dillon, Eric (Aaren) Dillon, Scot Stewart, Amie Vilt (Tom Peck), Sarah (Ciro) Spigno, and Tom (Allison) Stutts; six great grandchildren: Graham, Kate, Taylor, Brynn, Connor, and Grayson; one sister, Dorothee (the late Everett) Tjelle of Coal City; one brother Ronald (the late Janet) Vilt of Wilmington, and one sister-in-law, Lorraine Vilt of Carbon Hill, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Bette was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jim; son, Kenneth and brother, Richard Vilt.
The family will receive friends for a COVID observant visitation at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington on Monday, April 12, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 p.m. Pastor Harriette Cross will officiate, and burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Wilmington, where Bette will be laid to rest with her husband.
