Betty Boynton

WILMINGTON—Betty Gene Boynton, 85, of Wilmington, passed away Monday, March 16, 2020 at her home.
Born May 7, 1934 in Reynolds County, AR, Betty Gene was a daughter of Floise and Nola (nee Smithe) Carroll. She was raised and educated in Arkansas, and then moved to Wilmington in 1951 where she would raise her family. Betty was a loving and devoted mother who made her family her priority. She was especially adored by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Betty was a highly intelligent woman who loved doing crosswords, was an avid reader, and had a keen interest in expanding her knowledge on all things science.
Survivors include her son, Bill Boynton, of Wilmington; three grandchildren: Glenn (Colette) Boynton Jr., Matthew (Teresa) Boynton, and Sara (Scott) Barbour, all of Wilmington; eight grandchildren: Brendan Boynton, Brianna Boynton, Matthew Boynton II, Angelina Boynton, Rose Boynton, Glenn W. Boynton, Alexander Boynton, and Seth Barbour and her daughter-in-law, Sharon Boynton, of Wilmington.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Glenn O. Boynton Sr.
Per Betty’s wishes, cremation rites are being accorded, and memorial services will be held at a later date.
