Bike safety program

There will be a Bike Rodeo and Repair Clinic on Saturday, May 5, at New Hope Presbyterian Church, 80 N. Garfield St., Coal City.
With the help of the Grundy County Sherriff’s Department, the Coal City Auxiliary Police Unit will hold a bicycle skills course for ages 4 to 14 from all local communities in the church parking lot.
The event will provide an opportunity for bicyclists to measure their capabilities, increase their awareness of bicycle laws and the importance of defensive cycling.
Registration will begin at 9 a.m. The Bike Rodeo and Repair Clinic will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Food and vendor concessions will be available.
Participants who show their bicycle-riding skills will receive certificates, prizes and a chance to win prizes from a raffle.
