Brian J. Storbeck

WILMINGTON—Brian J. Storbeck, 56, of Wilmington, passed away unexpectedly, June 11, 2018 at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet.
Born Feb. 14, 1962 in Hazel Crest, Brian was a son of John and Shirley (Christiansen) Storbeck. He was raised and educated in Beecher and graduated from Beecher High School with the class of 1980. Brian went on to attend Joliet Junior College, where he met Cecilia Chesser who he later married on Aug. 13, 1983. Together Brian and Cecilia made their home and raised their family in Wilmington.
Brian worked as a sheet metal worker and was employed with Local #265 out of Carol Stream for more than 30 years, spending more than 25 years with Talaga in Joliet.
An active member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Brian belonged to the Wilmington Lodge #241, where he enjoyed working the steak frys for many years. He also served as Governor for multiple terms; was past Vice President and President of Moose Legion #9 and was proud to have earned his Fellowship Jacket.
Brian was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Wilmington, and will most be remembered for his love of family.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Cecilia; three children: Andrew Storbeck and Brianne (Jerry) Riggs, both of Wilmington and Ben Storbeck, of Monee; two grandchildren: Gavin and Addyson Riggs; two sisters: Dawn Elliott, of Frankfort and Lisa (Tony) Stella, of Orland Park; aunts and uncles: Ferne and Harold Karstensen and Carol Meyer, both of Beecher and Lodeen and Alan Wietbrock, of Lowell, IN; his mother-in-law, Jessie Chesser, of Hillsboro; sisters-in-law: Betty (the late Dan) Earp, of Ft. Smith, AR; Becky (Steve) Quigley, of Wilmington; Donna Chesser, of Hillsboro; Carla Issert, of Emden; Judy Chesser, of Roseville, CA and Joan (Bill) Eddy, of Rocklin, CA, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Brian was preceded in death by his parents, John and Shirley Storbeck; his step-mother, Karen Storbeck (nee Bunde); one brother in infancy; his father-in-law, Carl “Gene” Chesser and one sister-in-law, Diana Chesser.
The family will receive friends for a visitation on Thursday, June 14, 2018 between the hours of 4 and 8 p.m. at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 E. Kahler Rd. in Wilmington. A Loyal Order of Moose Service of Tribute will be held at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral services will follow Friday, June 15, 2018 at 10 a.m. in St. Rose Catholic Church, 604 S. Kankakee St. in Wilmington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Reverend Sebastian Gargol officiating.
Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Wilmington.
