The WHS performance of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Cinderella” is just around the corner.

WHS students involved in the musical have been practicing after school to prepare for their upcoming shows.

The performances will be on Thursday March 11, Friday March 12, and Saturday March 13 at 7 pm, and Sunday March 14 at 2 pm.

Last year’s performance of “High School Musical” took place right before the COVID-19 lockdown started, and was held with a limited audience.

“It’s kind of sad that this time, last year, the community didn’t get the opportunity to really see all of the hard work and dedication students showed in their production,” commented Ms. Jessica Carey, the WHS musical director.

This year’s show will also have a limited audience, allowing two tickets a night for each cast member. In person tickets will cost $10.

To allow more people to see the show, it will be live streamed. A live stream link can be purchased for $25 each night. People involved in the show encourage you to safely gather with friends and family to view the livestream. Instructions to purchase a link will soon be up on posters around town, on a Facebook event, and on the school website.

Wilmington’s performance of Cinderella will feature Alaina Stukel as Cinderella, Emily Dooley as Fairy Godmother, Gabrielle Mathus as Stepmother, Emma Romano as Grace, Stephanie Lambert as Joy, Eren Overmyer as Christopher, Tyler Sivertson as Lionel, Ella Cooper as Queen Constantina, and Ben Kavanaugh as King Maximillian, Bryce Jewell as Charles, and Micheal Nutt as Dove.

The white mice will be played by Ava Cupples, Bridget Knowles, Audrey Mumma and Grace Orr. The villagers, merchants, maidens and palace guests will be played by Logan Casey, Ava Cupples, Bryce Jewell, Bridget Knowles, Jonothan Mossel, Audrey Mumma, Michael Nutt, Grace Orr, and Emily Watson.

The cast also has lots of help from the directors and crew. Carey is the director, Joe Snyder is assistant director, Warren Miller is the set designer, and Mike McCormick is helping with lights and sound. The show also has student leaders.

The stage manager is senior Ellen Dooley, the assistant stage manager is Matt Haga, and the dance captain is Gabrielle Mathus.

The crew includes Ean Couch, Ellen Dooley, Madison Gabriel, Emily Geiss, Alivia George, Brooklyn Haddon, Halle Hage, Matt Haga, Alana Halzle, Liz Henderson, Stephanie Lambert, Gabrielle Mathus, Meghan McDowell, Aimee Moore, Jonathan Mossel, Eren Overmyer, Emily Quigley, Ashlei Rader, Ken Shelton, Mckenzie Sheilds, Tyler Sivertson, Courtney Van Duyne, Emilia Williams, and Chloey Wollenzien.

“They’ve worked so hard these past few months and they have done an amazing job with every obstacle that’s been thrown their way. My biggest goal for them is to just truly be proud of the performance that they give in these next few weeks,” commented Ms. Carey.
