Charles Spring

WILMINGTON—Charles A. Spring, “Charlie,” 67, of Wilmington, and formerly of Yorkville, Romeoville, Bolingbrook and Westmont, IL passed away peacefully with family by his side on April 25, 2021.
Charlie was born May 2, 1953 in Hinsdale, IL to Charles and Dolores Spring. Charlie was a much loved sarcastically funny department manager for Home Depot in Shorewood, IL and a previous plant supervisor for a wallpaper distribution company in Streator, IL, Bob Goldman Bindery in Cicero, IL. As a child he attended Holy Trinity Grade School, Bene Academy High School and went on to Benedictine University as well as College of DuPage.
Charlie married the love of his life, Carol A. Spring on Nov. 2, 1974 and devoted his everything to her and the raising of their two children, Jason Spring and Robyn Cox and their monastery animals. Charlie grew up in Westmont, IL and traveled often with his father, “Chuck” and family but learned the love of fishing and outdoorsmanship from his father. Charlie went on to attain the highest honor of Eagle Scout with his father by his side as a troop leader in the Boy Scouts. Charlie also learned woodworking from his father which developed into his love for making furniture and various other things as an adult. Charlie had a love and appreciation for music that started as a child and grew greater into his adulthood. You could always find him in his house with the music turned up loud, or in his car feeling the music. He lived his emotions and life through music and became very educated on different artists over time and would often share tidbits of knowledge about the song or artist with others. He had an absolute passion for photography that he developed as an adult and shared with his son, Jason. Charlie was a showcased photographer in various galleries across Illinois as well as an award-winning artist. You could find him in his free time searching for a new or revisiting that special location to try to get that perfect shot. He absolutely loved showing people what he captured and explaining what he saw and felt in the photo.
Surviving are two children, Jason Spring (Kathy Craig), of Bolingbrook, IL and Robyn Cox (Jerry Watenpaugh), of Wilmington; four grandchildren: Kayla Cox, Jerod Spring, Seth Spring and Delaney Watenpaugh; three sisters: Jacquie (Joe) Styka, of Woodridge, IL; Jill (Fred) Vath, of Sandy, UT; Jan (Tim) McDonnell, of Cary IL; two sisters-in-law, Barbra Cardelli, of Downers Grove, IL and Randi (Kerry) Daugherty, of Beloit, WI; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; his beloved dog, Thor and loving cat, Boo Kitty; his various extended family members at Home Depot in Shorewood. The family would like to especially thank them for their continued support and compassion throughout this difficult time.
Preceding him in death was his beloved wife of 46 years, Carol A. Spring and parents, Charles and Dolores Spring, formerly of Westmont, IL and nephew, Pfc. Sean T. Cardelli, USMC.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his name to Pancreatic Cancer Research would be appreciated.
