Curt Swick

WILMINGTON—Curt Swick, “Bud,” 67, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully Sunday, Aug. 19, 2018 at his home, surrounded by his family.
Born Nov. 30, 1950 in Lincoln, IL, Curtman Lee Jr. was a son of Betty Jane (Moore) Swick, of Wilmington, and the late Curtman Swick Sr. He was raised in Mt. Pulaski until the family moved to Wilmington during Curt’s early school years. He was a 1968 graduate of Wilmington High School, and on Sept. 6, 1969, Curt married Joyce Nunley in the First Christian Church in Wilmington. He was employed with Amoco Chemical Company for 39 years until his retirement, and was a member of Island City Baptist Church, well as the South Wilmington Fireman’s Club. Curt absolutely loved to fish, and enjoyed deer hunting with his brothers, sister and nephew Matt. A man of many names: Uncle Bud, Uncle Curt and Boogie to name a few, most of Curt’s hobbies and interests were centered around family. He will be forever remembered for his strong, generous and selfless demeanor.
Survivors include his mother, Betty; his loving wife of 49 years, Joyce; three daughters: Jennifer (Jonathan) Mietzner and Janine (Jeff) Momper, both of Wilmington and Jill (Eric) Kohl, of Lincoln, IL; five grandsons: Jake Momper, Zach Mietzner, Gabe Momper, Tommy Dwyer and Will Kohl; one granddaughter, Annie Kohl; brothers and sister: Phil (Peggy) Swick, of Braidwood; Jeanne (John) Keith, of Mokena and Tim (Karyn) Swick, of Braidwood; his aunt, Gladys Moore, of Mt. Pulaski, IL; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Michael (Joyce) Nunley, of Granite City, IL; John (Marylee) Nunley, of Peoria and JoAnn (Phil) Simmons, of Las Vegas; nieces and nephews: Stacey McGuan (fiancé, Craig Johnson), of Coal City, Matt (Melissa) Swick, of Wilmington; Christine (John) Henry, of Joliet; Tom Keith, of Mokena; Scott (Braylee) Swick, of Jacksonville, FL; Brad Swick, of Kingsland, GA; Val (Steve) Bailey, of Nolensville, TN; Stephanie (Steve) Larson, of Ballwin, MO and Chad Simmons and Mark Simmons, both of Portland, OR; great-nieces and nephews: Caleb and Ella Swick, of Wilmington; Kailey and Kassidy Henry, of Joliet; Shepard Swick, of Jacksonville, FL; Ryne and Mady Larson, of Ballwin, MO; Colton, Piper and Sawyer Bailey, of Nolensville, TN and great-great-niece, Charlotte Henry, of Joliet; numerous cousins, many dear friends, his dear neighbor, Kinsey Roth, who was like a member of the family, as well as Marissa Mendez and Riley Stepanek who were also very special to him.
Curt was preceded in death by his father in 1989 and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Richard and Annie Nunley.
The family will receive friends for a visitation at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 E. Kahler Rd. in Wilmington on Friday, Aug. 24, 2018 between the hours of 3 and 8 p.m.
Funeral services will follow Saturday, Aug. 25, 2018 in Island City Baptist Church, 120 Vine St. in Wilmington at 10 a.m. Pastor Ron Taylor will officiate and burial will be in Oakwood-Sunset Cemetery in Wilmington.
