Deloris Martis

COAL CITY—Delores “Sis” Martis, 84, of Coal City, passed away peacefully on Monday, Dec. 17, 2018 at her home surrounded by family.
Born May 14, 1934, Delores Louise was a daughter of Banuchi J. "Red" and Irene (Gerin) Ulivi. She was raised in Coal City and graduated with the Coal City High School class of 1951. On June 13, 1954, Sis married Robert Dale Martis in Assumption Catholic Church, and they made their home and raised their family in Coal City. Together, Sis, along with her husband, Bob took over the family business, Ulivi Bros. Furniture, which they operated until their retirement. Sis was also employed at Cumming Music Store, and after retirement, she continued to work as a secretary for the Coal City Area Club.
One who loved sports, along with Bob, Sis enjoyed golfing with friends. She was also a tremendous fan of Coal City sports, and was sure to never miss a game. No hobby however was greater to Sis than her family, which she cherished.
Survivors include her five children: Debbie (Shorty) Fatlan, of Diamond and Allen (Lisa) Martis, Brian (Dawn) Martis, Cathy (Greg) Lyons and Carol (Terry) Halliday, all of Coal City; grandchildren: Amy (John) Kelly, of Mazon; Missy (Scott) Kramer, of Goose Lake; Brock Martis (Kristy), of Coal City; Ben (Felicia) Lyons, of New Lenox; Jaime (Mike) Frazier and Jena Martis (Kyle), both of Diamond and Luke Lyons (Nikki), Brittany Halliday, Emily Halliday and Maddie Halliday, all of Coal City; seven great-grandchildren: Amelia, Tucker, Leo, Robert John "R.J.," Stellan, Vincent and Fitz and numerous nieces and nephews.
Sis was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bob on July 26, 2018 and one brother, Donald (Dorothy) Ulivi.
The family will receive friends for a visitation at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 N. Broadway, one block north of Illinois Route 113, in Coal City on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2018 from 4 until 7 p.m., and again on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2018 at Assumption Catholic Church, 215 S. Kankakee St. in Coal City from 10 a.m. until time of funeral services at 11 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Reverend Robert Noesen presiding.
A memorial luncheon will be held at the conclusion of the the services, and burial will follow in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood at 2:30 p.m.
Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be: Brock Martis, Ben Lyons, Luke Lyons, John Kelly, Scott Kramer and Kyle Nowicki.
