Early voting begins Sept. 27

Grundy County Clerk Kay Olson has announced that early voting for the November 6, 2018 General Election begins Thursday, Sept. 27, and runs through Monday, Nov. 5.
Current election law states that voters are not required to present an ID to early vote, as the voters identity is verified using a signature match just like on election day. Once a voter casts an early ballot, the vote cast is final and may not be revoked. Election law prohibits a person who voted during the early voting period from voting at the polls on election day. Votes cast during the early voting period are not counted until after the polls close on election day.
Early voting takes place at the county clerk's office, located in the Grundy County Courthouse, 111 E. Washington St., Morris. Early voting hours are Monday-Friday, Sept. 27-Nov. 5,  8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Additional early voting hours are: Saturday, Oct. 6, 27 and Nov. 3, 8 a.m.-Noon; Tuesday, Oct. 9, 23 and 30 and Thursday, Oct. 25 and Nov. 1, 8:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.;  Sunday, Oct. 28, 8 a.m.-Noon. Cellphones are not allowed inside the courthouse.
Olson also reminds those voters who wish to cast a vote by mail ballot in the upcoming General Election to contact the County Clerk's Office at 815-941-3222 to obtain the necessary application, or they may find the application under Election information on the Grundy County website at www.grundyco.org.
Voters with questions or wanting more information should contact the Grundy County Clerk at 815-941-3222 or by e-mail at elections@grundyco.org.
