The Coal City High School chapter of Future Business Leaders of America [FBLA] participated in the annual State Leadership Conference in Springfield with four students placing in the top 10 and three of them advancing to the national competition this summer.
Grace Sitar, Peyton Gibson and Kylee Kennell earned a trip to the National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, CA. The top four finishers in each competitive event qualify for national competition.
FBLA is the premiere state student business organization and the conference, held March 28-29 at the Crowne Plaza in Springfield, provided student members an opportunity to expand their business skills and compete in competitive events.
Sitar placed second in Introduction to Event Planning. Gibson and Kennell teamed up in the category of Sales Presentation and finished in fourth place. The students will compete in the national contest in Anaheim June 29-July 2.
Finishing among the top ten in the category of Introduction to Public Speaking was Abi Rose with a ninth place finish. Coal City FBLA members Gaven Vestal and Hayden Kennell also competed in the areas of Sports and Entertainment Management and Introduction to Social Media Strategies respectively.
“FBLA is a great national organization that provides many leadership opportunities for high school students,” said Harlan Kennell, chapter advisor.
