Glenda J. Bacon

LEMONT—Glenda J. Bacon, 92, of Lemont, passed away peacefully Friday, Aug. 24, 2018 at her home.
Born Oct. 20, 1925 in Nelliton, MS, Glenda Jeanette was a daughter of James Edward and Idele (Whitted) Cardwell. In 1951, she moved to Cicero, where she would raise her family and make her home until relocating to Lemont in 1971.
Glenda worked for Rockwell International in Downers Grove, and retired in 1990, following 15 years of dedicated service. She was a gifted musician who could not only sing, but play the guitar, piano, organ and mandolin. Glenda was a woman of pride, and her affection for shopping, and collection of clothing was a reflection of this. She was a wonderful cook, and will be remembered as a tremendous fan of the Chicago Cubs.
Survivors include her children: Glenda Jean Reese (Mike Perry) and Jonny Faye (Al) Shepherd, both of Cicero; Ruby Kate Miller, of Romeoville; Sandra Gwendolyn (George) Gregory, of Cicero; Walter (Linda) Dearman, of Corinth, MS; Martha Jacqueline (Dannie) Gardner, of Romeoville and Judy Zotos and Cheryl Ryan, both of Romeoville; 19 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren, one brother, Edward “Sonny” Jr. (Maggie) Cardwell, of Lisbon, AL; one sister-in-law, Virginia Cardwell, of Meridian, MS; two nephews, two nieces and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as cousins.
Glenda was preceded in death by her parents, one great-grandson, Lonnie Acosta; two sons-in-law, James Reese and Earl Miller; two sisters, Dorothy Davis and Agnes Dawson and one brother, James Edward Cardwell.
The family will receive friends for a visitation at Markiewicz Funeral Home, 108 Illinois St. in Lemont on Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2018 between the hours of 3 and 9 p.m. Funeral services will follow Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2018 at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Pastor Matthew Ross from Calvary Church in Naperville will officiate.
Burial will be in Clarendon Hills Cemetery in Darien.
Pallbearers will be: Michael Mardirosian, David McKendrick, Kenny McKendrick, Patrick Pawlak, Jeffrey Pawlak, Joey Flores, Alvie Shepherd, Mike Perry, John Miller and Billy Green.
