Heroin arrest in Braidwood

    The Braidwood Police Department took a 40-year-old Braidwood woman into custody on drug charges on July 5.
    Cortnee J. Anderson was charged with delivery and possession of a controlled substance, which was reported as heroin.
    Anderson’s last known address is the 100 block of Main Street in Braidwood.
    Braidwood police received information from the DEA that a narcotics transaction was going to take place at approximately 4:15 p.m.
    At about 4:30, the police witnessed what appeared to be a narcotics transaction take place on First Street near the Braidwood Park.
    A traffic stop was conducted at Third and Walker on a 1999 Buick LaSabre, which was seen in the area of the narcotics transaction.
    The police department placed two females in custody near the scene and recovered approximately 1.5 grams of reported heroin.
    The second female was later released without charges at this time.
    Felony Class X charges were approved by Will County Assistant State’s Attorney John Rickman.
    Anderson was transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility pending a bond hearing, which was scheduled for Thursday, July 6, at 1:30 p.m.
