James D. Hall

COAL CITY—James Dean “Jim” Hall, 83, of Coal City, IL, passed away Monday, Oct. 2, 2017 at Regency Care of Morris, IL.
Jim was born Sept. 26, 1934 in Peoria, IL to Percy and Marie (Pierce) Hall. He married Shirrell Togliatto at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Braidwood, IL on Oct. 8, 1960.  He had several careers over the years including design engineer for Caterpillar, home construction and he and Sherrill owned and operated The Diamond Café in Diamond, IL, The Log Cabin Restaurant in Wilmington and the Joliet Yacht Club. He also owned and operated a semi truck and Bockman Jewelry Store in Aurora with his wife. He was a member of St. Juvin Post 1336.
Jim was an avid golfer in the summer and he belonged to bowling leagues in the winter. He enjoyed swimming and pool parties when he lived in Joliet. He also enjoyed dining out.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Shirrell; his daughter, Maria Catherine Hall, of Coal City; his sister in law, Marcia Togliatto, of Diamond and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials in Jim's name may be made to St. Judes Children's Research Hospital.
Funeral service will be Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Ferrari Funeral Chapel, corner of Spring Road and Ferrari Drive, in Coal City with Pastor Randy Adams officiating. Visitation will also be Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Braceville/Gardner Cemetery.
