Janet L. Brown

WILMINGTON—Janet L. Brown, 73, of Wilmington, passed away Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018 at Aperion Care in Wilmington, IL.
Born May 7, 1944 in Joliet, IL, Janet Leone was a daughter of Harry Glenn and Genevieve Lucille “Jean” (Muncey) Brown. She was raised in Ritchie and worked for Precision Components, Inc. (PCI) in Wilmington until retiring after 25 years of service. Janet also delivered papers for the Kankakee Daily Journal for eight years.
Janet was a member of the Wilmington Church of the Nazarene and had a great love of animals. She rescued many pets over the years, and will be remembered for her love and dedication to the care of animals, especially cats in need. Janet was also a talented artist who enjoyed drawing, especially that of portraits and landscapes, and she took pleasure in sewing dolls.
Survivors include her four siblings: Evelyn (Melvin) Fennewald, of Wilmington; Robert (Sarah) Brown and Roland G. Brown, both of Ritchie and Kathleen (Max) Hoffman, of Channahon; one foster brother, Ed (Sandra) Scrogham, of Gardner and numerous nieces and nephews.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation and video tribute will be held  Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018 from 4 p.m. until time of service at 7 p.m. at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 E. Kahler Rd. in Wilmington.
Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.
Inurnment will be in Wesley Cemetery at a later date, where Janet will be laid to rest next to her mother.
