Jean A. Flynn

BRAIDWOOD—Jean A. Flynn, (nee McQuen), 77, of Braidwood, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home on April 7, 2019.
Born March 13, 1942 in Joliet, Jean was a daughter of Thomas and Helen (nee Griffin) McQuen. She was a cancer survivor and a true fighter. When Jean was diagnosed with cancer, she was given six months to live but was miraculously blessed with another 40 years. Jean worked multiple jobs throughout her life to support her family.
She worked as a bank teller, hostess, housekeeper, clerical worker at Thomas Steel, janitor for the Reed-Custer School District and also worked with special needs individuals.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, traveling, dancing, knitting, quilting, puzzles and she also looked forward to her monthly breakfast with her high school classmates from Providence High School, class of 1961.
Survivors include her husband, James Flynn II, of Braidwood; one daughter, Dawn (John) Broucek, of Coal City; one son, Thomas (Christina) Hall, of Dothan, AL; eight grandchildren: Stephanie, Stacie, Shellie and Steven Hall; Danielle (Ethan) Coleman, Dominique (fiancé Trai) Stegall, David and Mark Hall; six great-grandchildren, one brother, Richard (Frieda) McQuen; a sister-in-law, Sheila McQuen and many nieces and nephews along with James’ children: James Flynn III, Mark (La’Rae) Flynn, Lanette (Dion) Tjelle, Rodney (Jodi) Flynn, and Ginger (Charles) Wuchter and 18 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Steven G. Hall and David D. Hall; her parents, one brother, Thomas McQuen and her twin sister, Joan Lantz-Tomany.
Per Jean’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Morris Hospital, the Braidwood Fire Department, the Joliet Area Community Hospice and numerous doctors and nurses for their care and support.  
The family will receive friends for visitation at R.W. Patterson Funeral Home & Crematory on Saturday, April 13, 2019 from 9 to 11 a.m. with a memorial service to immediately follow.  This memorial service will also include a memorial for her son, David who passed on March 13, 2019.
