Jim Melius

DIAMOND—Jim Melius, 64, of Diamond, and formerly of Waukegan, IL, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020 at his home.
Born Feb. 25, 1955 in Waukegan, James Alan was a son of James L. and Margaret A. (Archibald) Melius. He was a graduate of Waukegan High School with the class of 1973 and went on to marry Linda Reif on Oct. 31, 1987.
Jim worked as an operator at the Exelon Braidwood Station, and retired in January of 2019 after more than 30 years of service. When he wasn’t at work, he was usually found in his garage mancave watching anything he could related to Chicago sports. He planned his life around Blackhawks and Cubs games. His favorite passed time during the summer months, aside from grilling out and keeping his yard in pristine condition, was to hangout in the pool and listen to the Cubs on the radio.
Survivors include his wife, Linda; daughter, Alison and son, Max; two brothers, Michael (Rita) Melius, of Waukegan and Robert (Judy) Melius, of Grayslake; his mother-in-law, Virginia Reif, of Waukegan; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Mitchell (Liz) Reif, of Vernon Hills; David (Tracy) Reif, of Winthrop Harbor and Susan Eng, of Annapolis, MD and nieces and nephews: Melissa (Matt) Lynch, Jacquie (Mike) Matayosian, Katie (Jake) Otterson, Jason (Cierra) Reif, Christian Eng and Bryant Eng.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law, Robert Reif and one sister-in-law, Bobbie Fantus.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
The family will receive friends for a memorial visitation on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2020 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 N. Broadway, one block north of Illinois Route 113, in Coal City.
