Joseph Muzzarelli

COAL CITY—Joseph A. Muzzarelli           “Muzzy”, 88, of Coal City, passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at Miller Healthcare Center in Kankakee.  
He was born April 16, 1930 in South Wilmington to the late Battista and Nerina (nee Turchi) Muzzarelli.  Joseph was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean Conflict.  He was a decorated veteran having been awarded with three bronze stars.  
Soon after he was discharged from the service, Muzzy began his career as a barber in 1959   he then opened Muzzy's Barbershop in 1962 in Braidwood.  
Although his main joy was his barbershop, he also enjoyed the outdoors, and gardening.  
Surviving are two sons, Joe (Veronica) Muzzarelli of Dwight and Jay Muzzarelli of Bonfield; three grandchildren, Karissa, Angelina, and Sara Muzzarelli; four great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Connie Muzzarelli of Coal City; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend, Sonny Armstrong.  
Preceding him in death were his parents; six siblings, Henry “Reco” (Edith) Muzzarelli, Frank (Marge) Muzzarelli, Gemma (Jim) Wendell, Leo (Dorothy) Muzzarelli, Novi (Ebe) Jerbi, and Bruno Muzzarelli.  
Visitation will be at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Home & Crematory, Braidwood chapel, Monday, June 11, 2018 from 3-7 p.m. with the funeral service beginning at 7 p.m.  
Rev. Show Reddy Allam will officiate and cremation rites will be accorded following services.  
Family and friends will meet at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Braidwood, Wednesday, June 13 at 10 a.m. for committal services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his name to Kankakee Valley Hospice would be appreciated.
