Kimberly Ann Ferrari

COAL CITY—Kimberly Ann Ferrari, 42, of Coal City, passed away at her home Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018 after an eight year long fight against metastatic breast cancer.
 She was born May 10, 1975 in Berwyn, IL to Otis McKenzie and Helen Jablonsky Freid. She married Gregory Ferrari on Sept. 20, 2002 at the Coal City Assumption Catholic Church. Kim was a local hairstylist and helped her husband run their family business. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Morris, IL and a past member of the Coal City Junior Women's Club. Her joy in life was her family, especially her two children. She will be remembered for her smile and amazing personality.
She is survived by her husband of 15 years, Greg; two children, Lauren and Ethan; parents, Helen Freid and Otis (Amy) McKenzie; brother, Jerry (Cora) McKenzie; three step-sisters: Dina (Kevin) Schnabble and Desiree and Stephanie Wheeler; three nieces: Rebecca and Alissa McKenzie and Olivia Ferrari; maternal grandmother, Helen Jablonsky and step-grandfather, Paul Freid; aunts and uncles: Jennifer (Richard) Grabski, Joseph Jablonsky, Anna (Guy) Stone and Kathy Evans; mother and father-in-law, Cathy and Bob Ferrari; brother and sister-in-law, Glenn and Becki Ferrari, numerous cousins and many dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Joseph Jablonsky; paternal grandparents and her step-father, Brian Freid.
Memorials in Kim's name may be made to the American Cancer Society, the Blackbird Cancer Foundation or the charity of the donor's choice.
In honor of Kim's eight year journey with breast cancer, please consider wearing pink to her visitation.
Visitation will be at the Ferrari Funeral Chapel, corner of Spring Road and Ferrari Drive, on Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018 from noon until 5 p.m.

Kim will lie in state on Monday, Jan. 15, 2018 at the First Baptist Church, 4470 E. Rt. 113 in Coal City from 10 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Pastor Caleb Counterman will officiate. Burial will follow at Braceville/Gardner Cemetery.
