Lorraine C. McCrary

IOWA—Lorraine C. McCrary, 88, loving sister, mother, grandmother and aunt to many, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2019 at Jersey Ridge Place in Davenport, IA. Memorial services will be private for immediate family only.
Lorraine was born in Joliet on March 25, 1931 to Joseph and Marian Micona (Ciluffo). She graduated from Coal City High School in 1948 and from the University of Oklahoma with a bachelor of science degree in 1975. She was a computer programming specialist for the Federal Government, retiring from the Rock Island Arsenal in 1988.
Lorraine was a member of MENSA, the National Organization of Women and the Democratic Party. She was a very strong advocate for women's rights and she became a union steward (NFFE) with a focus on defending women's equality and rights within the federal government. Lorraine received several commendations for her work in computer programming and the advancement of computer science for the Federal Government.
Lorraine will always be remembered by her family as a strong, admirable and independent woman.
Those left to honor her memory include her children: Maureen Greenan, Sue Fuller, Beth Murphy (Terry) and Michael McCrary; her grandchildren: Shavonne Greenan, Amy McCrary, Capt. Michael McCrary Jr. and Molly Murphy; her great-grandchildren: Madelyn Greenan, Brayden Greenan and Luke Keister; her sister, Anna Marie Pearson, of Coal City; her nieces: Janet Sandeno, Karen Vota (Rick) and Lynn Pearson and several great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Elaine Anderson, formerly of Glendale Heights, IL.
