Maurice Leahy

EAST MOLINE—Maurice “Morry” Leahy, 77, of Est Moline, IL passed away Feb. 12, 2018 at his home surrounded by is family and hospice nurse.
He was born Jan. 12, 1941 in Joiet to John and Vadeline (Crepel) Leahy. Morry graduated from Joliet Township High School in 1958. He began working at the Joliet Arsenal immediately after graduation. He married Lana Glenney in 1963 at St. Rose church in Wilmington. He transferred to the Rock Island Arsenal in 1973 and was employed there until his retirement in 1999.
When bowling leagues ended Morry looked forward to every spring when golf began, but he was best known for his love of Corvettes and displaying them at car shows.
He is survived by his wife, Lana; daughter, Mitzi Yordy, of Moline; sons, James Leahy, of Wheaton and Stephen Leahy, of Milwaukee; three grandsons: Nate Teager and Simon and Sean Leahy.
Per Morry’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and a visitation was held in Moline on Feb. 16, 2018. His son, Steve, reviewed some of his dad’s life’s highlights, and others also contributed their stories.
Memorials were made to the American Cancer Society’s Discovery Shop.
