Robert L. Hendron

KANKAKEE—Robert L. Hendron, 89, of Kankakee, passed away Sunday, Aug. 26, 2018 at his home.
He was born Feb. 7, 1929 in Chicago Heights, the son of John and Edith (Stilts) Hendron Sr. Robert married Barbara Uran in 1990 in Kankakee. Robert was a self-employed carpenter for many years. He owned and operated C & H Construction. He also worked for UniRoyal, Honeywell, and Alliant Tech Systems, all at the Joliet Arsenal. Robert enjoyed golfing, hunting, trapping, and fishing. He loved racing and water skiing with his family. He shot at pistol competitions, reloaded his own ammunition and was a national champion bird carver. He was a self-made man. Robert was of the Methodist faith.
Surviving are two sons and one daughter-in-law, David and Monie Hendron, of Payson, AZ and Daniel Hendron, of Wilmington; one daughter and one-son-in-law, Dawn and Wayne Scott, of Mesa, AZ; three step-sons: Joseph Kregor, of Chicago; Patrick & Lina Kregor of Boyton Beach, FL, and Jeff and Eileen Kregor, of Bourbonnais; one step-daughter, Jackie and Tony Turro, of Kankakee; 14 grandchildren: Sally, Venita, Jason, Dennis, Lance, Kristin, Melanie, Hillary, Kathryn, Sean, Alex, Drew, Josh and Avery; 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Robert was preceded in death by one grandson, Michael Hendron; one brother, John Hendron Jr.; one daughter-in-law, Janet Hendron; one step-daughter, Jan Kregor and one sister, Lorraine LaFrance.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial visitation will be held from 3 p.m. until the 6 p.m. funeral service on Thursday, Aug. 30, 2018 at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais. Rev. Scott Henley will officiate the service.
