Ruth Housman

GARDNER—Ruth Housman, 92, of Gardner, passed away Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Heritage Health in Dwight.
Born March 11, 1925 in Morris, Ruth was a daughter of Ralph and Florence (Brooks) Stevens. She was raised and educated in Gardner and in 1947 married Andrew Housman. Together they started a family which was Ruth's world. She enjoyed watching her soap operas on ABC, cooking for the whole family and opening her home to anyone in need.  Ruth was Ma, grandma and aunt to everyone that knew her.
Survivors include 13 children: Margaret (Ron) Wendel, Raymond Housman, Donald Housman, David (Jan) Housman, Patricia (Ray) Sox, William Housman, Penelope Runyon, Nathan (Kay) Housman, Richard Housman, Hope (Tony) Wilson, Karen (John) Wilson, George (Angie) Housman and Rhonda Housman; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Gloria Olson and several nieces and nephews.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Andrew; three sons: Ralph, Ronald and Warren Housman; one daughter, Marilyn Housman; one grandson, Eric Wendel; two daughters-in-law, Donna and Linda Housman; two brothers, Lyle and Russell Stevens and one sister, Margaret Marigold.
Per Ruth's wishes, cremation rites were accorded, and inurnment will be in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery at a later date.
