Samuel A. Young

DIAMOND—Samuel A. Young, "Sam," 65, of Diamond, passed away Sunday, Feb. 14, 2021 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home.
Born Oct. 30, 1955 in Russell, KS, Samuel Andrew was a son of Glen and Evelyn (Wyble) Young. He worked at McDonalds and then a steel company in Kansas City, KS until he retired in 1985. Sam relocated to Illinois in 2009, where he met and married Nancy (Rhodes) Shelton on July 30, 2011 at Christian Faith Center in Wilmington. He was an avid music fan who loved all genres, had a massive music collection, and was very good at music trivia. Sam also enjoyed watching movies, especially westerns.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Shelton-Young, of Diamond; four siblings: Bonnie (the late George) Swank, of Burlington, KS; Chris (Dewayne) Gibbs, of Kansas City; David Young, of Gardner, KS and Evie (Keith) Shields, of Kansas City, MO; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law: Robert (Debbie) Rhodes, of Dwight; June (the late Frank) Roudis, of Morris and Mary Lue (the late Vern) Heilman, of Iola, KS; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and his special companion, his cat, Snowy.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Glenn, Paul, and Tom Young.
Per Sam's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and memorial services will be held at a later date.
