Santa to make a grand entrance Dec. 14

SANTA EXPERIENCED A rain delay last weekend, but the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce is planning for him to make a grand entrance to Wilmington on Dec. 14.

The Chamber of Commerce’s Winter Wonderland lighted Christmas parade, scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 30, was canceled due to inclement weather. Rain, wind and potential thunderstorms were in the forecast for parade time, and parade entries, including Santa’s ride and the feature attractions, began canceling their appearances early Friday.
The Chamber will still host its holiday kickoff, on Saturday, Dec. 14, from 4:30 to 7 p.m., on North Water Street, featuring dance performances, lighted floats, rides on The Polar Express, free treats and visits with Santa Claus.
Chamber volunteers are busy planning Santa’s grand entrance, which will consist of an abbreviated parade on North Water Street from Mill to Jackson. Afterwards, floats are invited to park and display downtown. Details will be provided via the Chamber’s social media pages and The Free Press Advocate as soon as they become available.
Lineup starts at 4 p.m. on Chicago Street. The mini parade will begin at 5.
