Senior tax freeze/exemptions event

Staff from the Will County Supervisor of Assessments will host a senior event on Friday, May 18, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at Custer Township Hall, 35332 Grant Street. Anyone residing in Wilmington, Reed or Wesley townships is invited to attend.

The event will allow Will County seniors 65-years or older to sign-up for the senior freeze and/or exemptions which aid in reducing their real estate taxes.

To qualify for exemptions, seniors must be 65-years-old this year, own and live in the home. A household total income of $65,000 or less is also required to qualify for the senior freeze.

Participants must bring their drivers license, state identification or birth certificate, income for 2012 (1040) and the current property tax bill or property index number.

Those applying for the senior freeze will need to bring a copy of their 2017 tax records.

For more information, call Custer Township Assessor Pam Hall at 815-693-5643.
