Sharleen A. Smith

COAL CITY—Sharleen Ann Smith, 85, of Coal City, passed away Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018 at the home of her son in Woodstock, GA.
Born July 14, 1933 in Joliet, Sharleen Ann was a daughter of Thomas and Marie (Knowles) Perona. She was raised in Joliet before moving to Coal City.
On Sept. 26, 1953, Shar married Jim Smith in Joliet and together they made their home and raised their family in Coal City. She worked for the family business, Jim Smith Chevrolet-Oldsmobile and later as a bookkeeper for Talty Chevy-Buick-Cadillac. Shar was a devoted Catholic and member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church in Coal City, and belonged to the National Automobile Dealers Association. In her free time, Shar enjoyed playing Bridge.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Sylvia Smith, of Woodstock; grandchildren: Kortnye Oster, of Coal City; Desirae (Trevor) Lester, of Kennesaw, GA; Darcie (Ben) Chabot, of Woodstock and Desiree Patterson, of Blue Ridge, GA; great-grandchildren: Noah Michael, Natalie Kaye, Nora Marie, Paisley Grace, Wren Renee and Rose Miette.
Shar was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jim; son, Michael (March 9, 2018) and one brother, Ken Perona.
The family will receive friends for a visitation on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2019 between the hours of 4 and 8 p.m. at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 N. Broadway, one block north of IL Route 113 in Coal City.
Funeral services will follow on Friday, Jan. 4, 2019 at 10 a.m. in Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, 215 S. Kankakee St. in Coal City. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Reverend Robert Noesen presiding.
Burial will be in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery and pallbearers will be: Dave Schmidt, Dave Coronelli, Trevor Lester, Ben Chabot, Tom Perona and Rob Perona.
