Unit 1 sets summer school dates

     As the school year comes to a close, the Unit 1 Board of Education is looking ahead to the summer session.
    In an attempt to give younger students a headstart on a new school year, the district will once again offer a late summer program for children in kindergarten to fifth grade.
    Summer session for those students is set for July 23-Aug. 3 from 8 a.m. to noon. Those enrolled in kindergarten  and first grade classes will report to the early childhood center;  second and third grade classes will be at the elementary school; and fourth and fifth grades will be at the intermediate school.  The cost to attend is $40  for kindergarten to fourth grade and $60 for those in fifth grade.
    Students in  grades six to 12 will be eligible to enroll in on-line courses via Apex Learning with students attending at the high school from 8 a.m. to noon during two sessions, June 4-22 and July 9-27. The cost to participate is $75 per class.
    Summer drivers education will be provided at a cost of $185.
