Staff Report

City water service at Water’s Edge Estates and neighboring areas in Wilmington will be shut off two full eight-hour days while contractors work on the main near the Kankakee River Drive crossing as part of the Union Pacific’s high speed rail project.
The shutoffs are scheduled for Wednesday, April 25, and Wednesday, May 2. They are expected to begin between 7 and 8 a.m.
In addition to the Water’s Edge Estates Subdivision, the service shutoff will affect the Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie Visitor’s Center; Illinois Transport and the Local 150 training center on South Arsenal Road and U.S. Cold Storage and International Transload Logistics on Kankakee River Drive.
After each shutoff day, a boil order will be in effect for a minimum of 24 hours for all water intended for consumption.
Water department superintendent Patrick Nugent said residents will be notified of the shutoffs by staff delivering flyers to each home.
