Wildcat golf picks up conference win

    The Wilmington varsity golf team just couldn’t get it done during their conference match-up with Seneca and Westmont on Thursday.
    The Wildcats suffered two losses on the road, as they finished with a team score of 207. Westmont shot a low 179, while Seneca followed with 185.
    Low scorer for Wilmington was Ryan Woodall who shot a 42 on his round. Tyler Long carded a 46, while Nolan Smith and Jake Rader rounded out the top scores with 56 and 63, respectively.
    Wilmington falls to 2-4 overall (1-3 conference).

    The Wildcats picked up a conference win by forfeit last Tuesday, as they defeated Plano but fell to Streator.
    “It was a good performance by the team on a tough golf course,” said coach Mike Wilson.
    The Wildcats finished with a 196, as they were edged out by Streator (160).
    Plano wound up forfeiting, as they didn’t have enough golfers to field a varsity squad.
    Leading scorers for Wilmington included Woodall (40), Garrett Roth and Long (49’s) and Smith (58).
