Wilmington spring pick-up

    Wilmington will hold its annual city-wide spring pick-up on Thursday, May 10, for residents living in single-family homes or duplexes that are currently receiving city collection services. Items should be placed curbside by 6 a.m.
    Items may include couches, chairs, tables, mattresses, white goods such as ranges, washers, dryers, appliances with Freon and water heaters, a limit of four automobile tires without rims, and carpet and padding cut into four-foot lengths, rolled and secured with tape or string and not exceeding 50 pounds.
    Pick-up will not include building materials, fencing, large car parts, engine oil and yard waste. Make special arrangements for these items by calling Waste Management at 1-800-796-9696.
    Items banned from disposal in Illinois include televisions, monitors, printers, computers (desktops, laptops, notebooks and tablets), electronic keyboards, fax machines, video cassette recorders and portable digital music players.
    Also, DVD players, DVD recorders, video game consoles, small scale servers, scanners, electronic mice, digital converter boxes, cable receivers, satellite receivers, cell phones, computer cable, portable digital assistants (PDAs) and zip drivers.     Anyone hauling items into the city will be considered dumping and will be fined.
