Youth theater workshop offered in Coal City

Small Town Theatrics, a community theater founded and based in Coal City, will host a youth workshop this summer.
    Students entering fourth to ninth grades are invited to take part in the two-week workshop exploring various aspects of theatrical performance, from acting and vocals, to choreography and set design.
    The workshop will be directed by Jack Micetich, founder of Small Town Theatrics and musical director for Coal City Unit 1 School District. He will be assisted by vocal director Shanan D’Agostino.
    Local individuals who work or have worked professionally in the field have been invited to present daily sessions focused on their field of expertise including acting, lighting, auditorium management and ticketing.
    The workshop will run June 26 to July 7, with no attendance on July 4. Students in fourth to sixth grade will attend from 9 a.m. to noon; and seventh to ninth grade students will attend from 1-4 p.m. at the Coal City Unit 1 Auditorium at Coal City High School, 655 W. Division St., Coal City.
    The workshop will culminate in an revue performance at 7 p.m., Friday, July 7.
    Tuition is $150 per student and includes workshop attendance, T-shirt, snacks, and four tickets to the review performance. Additional tickets will be available for purchase.
    Additionally, each participant will have the opportunity to sing the “National Anthem” with the Small Town Theatrics cast of “Dogfight” at the July 22 Joliet Slammers game, game ticket included and a ticket to see Lance Lipinsky, who played Jerry Lee Lewis in the Broadway hit “Million Dollar Quartet, on July 8 as part of the Megan Bugg Concert Series.
