The most important decision made by a board of education is hiring its superintendent, a task not to be taken hastily or lightly.
Nearly one year after announcing its consideration of Christopher Spencer for the position, the Unit 1 Board of Education made its decision official.
As of July 1, 2022, Spencer will serve as the district’s superintendent of schools, succeeding Dr. Kent Bugg who will retire on June 30.
“Excited is the first word that comes to mind. The excitement I have is to serve this school district and the community that I call home,” Spencer said.
