The Braidwood Police Department is set to get a new officer—of the four-legged variety.
On March 22, Public Health and Safety Commissioner James Mikel told members of the City Council that a new police dog would soon be joining the ranks of the BPD.
“We have begun the process to implement a new police K9 unit. Officer Phil Tyree has been selected to be the handler,” Mikel announced.
And, the commissioner added, the new unit is coming to Braidwood at no cost to the tax payers, thanks to a program through Will County State’s Attorney Jim Glasgow’s office.
