In M. J. Donna's book, The Braidwood Story, he devotes many pages to the Rossi family. He called them the premier industrialist family of Braidwood. And he was right, the other major industry - mining- was owned by a company of stockholders, not a local citizen. So, let's look at this remarkable family.
Peter Rossi, Sr. was born in Northern Italy, near Torino and was educated at home. At an early age he began working for the Italian Government, specializing in grain milling and macaroni manufacturing. Later he opened his own macaroni factory in his home town in 1876.
