Christine Kunkel

WILMINGTON—Christine Ann Kunkel, 72, of Wilmington, passed away Nov. 2, 2023 at home where she had been a resident for 33 years. Christine went to be with our Lord after a long battle with dementia. She was at home surrounded by her husband, her son, her grandchildren and her special friend, like a daughter, Shelly Cox.
She was born in Chicago on June 23, 1951, the daughter of Thomas and Elaine Pettke. Christine, a Protestant, was a self employed commercial cleaner. Christine will be remembered first for Christianity. In her younger days she enjoyed bowling, golfing and she loved to go fishing with Chuck.
She is survived by her husband, Charles; son, Charles Jr.; sister, Cynthia Pettke Mech; gramma to Kelsey, Amber and Collin and great-gramma to Kaiden, Iden, Waverly and Ariela plus numerous nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles. Sisters-in-law, Kathy Kleckner, Janet Kunkel and Susan Pettke; brothers-in-law, Tom Kunkel, Art Kunkel and Terry Kleckner.
She was preceded in death by: her parents and brothers: Tom, Ray and David Pettke.
A celebration of her life in the Lord will be announced in the near future. Cremation rites have been accorded and there will be no visitation.
