Coaler golf picks up two conference wins, fall to Streator
The Coal City varsity golf team needed to shave a couple of strokes on Thursday when they hosted Streator in a conference duel.
The Coalers were edged out by the Bulldogs, as Coal City finished with a 177, and Streator shot a 175.
Matt Misewicz was the medalist for Coal City, shooting a 41, while Russell Gomien followed with a 44.
Cam Lander and Keegan Gagliardo rounded out the top four with 45 and 47, respectively.
Cade Mueller (49) and Ben Sorensen (51), also competed on the varsity side.
The day wasn’t a total loss though, as the junior varsity team secured a win over the Bulldogs, 217-256.
Keegan Smith was the low score for the Coalers, hitting a 52, while Tyler Johnson followed with a 54.
Layne Hopper (55) and Mickey McDowell (56) rounded out the top four, as Zach Gagliardo (64) and Brendan Cullick (65) also competed for the junior varsity squad.

The Coalers picked up a dominating win last Tuesday, as they clinched wins over conference opponents, Reed-Custer and Westmont.
Coal City’s Misewicz earned the top golfer for the night, finishing with a round score of 41.
He was followed by Gomien (43), who got barely edged out by Westmont’s Tyler Cunningham (42).
Mueller and Lander followed suit on the night ,earning 44 and 45, respectively.
At the junior varsity level, the Coalers golfers also earned wins over their opponents.
The team earned a score of 201, as Reed-Custer finished with a 274 and Westmont forfeited.
Johnson was the low score for the JV Coalers, earning a 49 on his round ,while Cullick and Gagliardo followed with 50’s.
McDowell rounded out the top four with a 52.
