Joseph Giacomo

COAL CITY—Joseph Anton Giacomo, 82, of Coal City, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, April 16, 2023 at his home.
Born Sept. 30, 1940 in Joliet, he was the son of Peter and Mary Marie (nee Togliatto) Giacomo. Joseph served with the United States Army National Guard in the mid 1960's. He married Mary LaZier July 30, 1966 in Braidwood. Joseph retired in 1997 as a chemical operator from BASF. He was a member of the Coal City Area Club where he enjoyed fishing with his grandson and watching the wildlife. He also enjoyed taking vacations with his family, feeding any little outdoor critter, and cooking.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Mary Giacomo, of Coal City; two children, Stacy (Terry) Warner, of Braidwood and Kent Giacomo, of Coal City; grandson, Tyler Warner; sister-in-law, Helen (the late Lewis) Uhrich, of Naples, FL and numerous nieces, nephews, and their families.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Peter and Mary; sister, Esther (Donald) Wills; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Helen and Lawrence LaZier; sister-in-law, Sharon (Charles “Ike”) White and brother-in-law, Lawrence LaZier Jr.
Visitation for Joseph will be at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Home & Crematory, Friday, April 21, 2023 from 1 p.m. until the time of funeral services at 3 p.m. Interment will follow in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery, Braceville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his name may be directed to Coal City Emergency Services or the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
