Juan A. Herrera

COAL CITY—Juan A. Herrera, 79, of Coal City, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2021 at AMITA Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet.
Born Jan. 27, 1942 in Durango, Mexico, Juan was a son of Alberto and Nicasia Arambula Herrera. He was raised in Mexico and immigrated to the United States in the 1960’s. He was a member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church in Coal City, and formerly worked for Norwalk Tank Company in New Lenox.
Survivors include his wife, Manuela; five children: Juan F. (Maria) Herrera, of Coal City; Salvador Herrera, of Braidwood; Maria (Nicolas III) Colin, of Chicago; Lorena (Julio) Lopez, of Coal City and Griselda (Braulio) Valdez, of Coal City; 17 grandchildren: Natalie, Stacey and Joshua Herrera; Elisa and Joel Herrera, Ariana, Nicolas IV, Anareli, Isaiah, Rosemary and Jared Colin; Jacqueline, Leslie, Julio and Michael Lopez and Anthony and Kassandra Valdez; six great-grandchildren: Andrea, Zayden, Alaina, Mariah, Nicolas V and Oliver and siblings, Julio, Catarino, Maximina, Gonzala and Jose Leon, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Juan was preceded in death by his parents, his granddaughter, Sophia and great-grandson, Aiden; sisters: Andrea, Teresa and Angelita and brothers: Paulino, Francisco, Jesus and Rito.
A family visitation was held at Reeves Funeral Home in Coal City, followed by funeral services in Assumption Catholic Church in Coal City. Reverend Jason Stone presided with Deacon Arnulfo Cisneros assisting.
Burial was in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery.
