Lady Comets, Wildcats prepare for Regional
The girls basketball playoffs begin next week and it looks like Wilmington and Reed-Custer will be in a tough regional.
Both teams will compete in the Braidwood Regional, with the Lady Wildcats kicking things off on Monday, Feb. 5 against Beecher.
Wilmington enters as the 11th seed, and squares off against Beecher (6th seed) at 7 p.m. in the Reed-Custer gym on Monday.
The winner will face second-seed Paxton-Buckley-Loda in the semifinal on Tuesday.
Reed-Custer will enter as the fifth seed, and will face Peotone (3) on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in the semifinals.
The winner will await the decision of the other semifinal game, with the final taking place on Thursday at 7 p.m.
The winner of the Reed-Custer Regional will feed into the Iroqouis West Sectional, and will play the champion from the St. Thomas More Regional.
Teams in that Regional include: St. Joseph Ogden (1), St. Thomas More (4), Heyworth (5), Argenta (9), Farmer City (10) and Tri-Valley (11).
The Sectional semfinal will be held on Monday, Feb. 12 at 6 p.m. in Iroqouis West.
