Lorraine Hansen

GARDNER—Lorraine Carol Hansen (nee. Freeland), 95, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2024, at her home in Gardner surrounded by family.
Lorraine was born in Morris to Annita and Arling Freeland on April 12, 1929. She lived in Gardner most of her life. She was a graduate of Gardner-South Wilmington High School in 1947. In 1948, she married Bobby C. Hansen in the United Lutheran Parsonage in Gardner.
Lorraine was employed and retired from the Joliet Army Ammunition Plant in Elwood. She was long-time member of the Royal Neighbors of America and served as Oracle for 13 years. She served as president of the Southeastern Grundy County Senior Citizens for 24 years. She was president of the Braceville-Gardner Cemetery Association for 18 years. She was a member of the United Lutheran Church of Gardner and member of the Dorcas Circle and ULCW.
Lorraine is survived by one son, Brian (Tamara) Hansen, of Gardner; one granddaughter, Alison (Tim) Watson, of Braceville and three grandsons: Bradley (Emily) Hansen, of Coal City; Paul (Maxine) Hansen and Sean (Madison) Hansen, both of Gardner; six great-grandchildren: Mason, Lorraine and Joanna Hansen and Dailynn (Brendan Alexander), Dakota, and Mackinzie Watson; three great-great-grandchildren: Malayah, Brycen and Raelynn; special daughter-like friend, Mary Rossio; Cathleen, Danny, and Patrick (Carol) Finnerty and many other nieces and nephews; one brother-in-law, Bernard Grant and cousin, Pete Hexdal.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby (1987) and her son, Dale Lee (1978); her parents, Arling (1986), Anita (2004), and her only sister, Arlette (Martin) Finnerty and their infant son, Michael Finnerty. She was also preceded in death by her brothers-in-law: Russell (Jenny) Hansen, Wayne (Catherine) Hansen, Gaylord Hansen, and sisters-in law: Marilyn (John) Kociss, Ida Grant and Ina Tjelle; her nephews: Jeff Grant, Stephen Schmidt and David Hansen and her niece, Robyn Brogan.
Services will be held at the United Lutheran Church in Gardner on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 with the visitation beginning at 9 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 11 a.m. Burial will immediately follow at Braceville-Gardner Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the United Lutheran Church of Gardner or Lightways Hospice.
