Renee Blasier
TEXAS—Renee Marie Blasier, 59, passed away peacefully with family at her bedside on Sept. 5, 2024, after a courageous battle with colon cancer.
Born March 1, 1965 in Harvey, IL, she was the youngest of five children born to Laurin Ray and Rita Adele Blasier.
Renee, along with her family, grew up in Wilmington and graduated from Wilmington High School in 1983. She pursued a career in nursing and became a traveling Registered Nurse working in Intensive Care Units across the country. She ultimately landed in San Diego, CA, and enjoyed the area so much she opted to quit traveling and reside there. She eventually found her way to Texas in 2018, to be closer to family and settled in Waco, TX.
Renee was an avid animal lover and often went to pet stores and animal shelters just to visit them and provide comfort. She loved tennis and followed the sport closely. Renee also enjoyed the outdoors; hiking, kayaking, and camping.
Renee is survived by her sisters: Susan Gleason, Laura Bottens, Rita Brady, and brother, David Blasier; her nieces Laurin Weicht and Rachel Bottens; her nephews, Justin Gleason and Ryan Bottens; great-nieces, Rylan and Adelyn Weicht and great-nephew, Everett Bresnan. Renee was a wonderful sister and aunt.
She was preceded in death by her father, Laurin Ray and mother, Rita Adele Blasier.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 23, 2024, at St. Louis Catholic Church at 2001 N. 25th Street, Waco, TX 76708, where we will celebrate her life and the everlasting impact she had on those around her.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Colorectal Cancer Alliance (colorectalcancer.org) or the Fuzzy Friends Rescue (fuzzyfriendsrescue.com) in her memory.
Rest in Peace, Renee. We love you.
