Summer reading returns to Wilmington Public Library

It looks a little different from years past, but the Summer Reading Program is back in action at the Wilmington Public Library.

Summer Reading kicked off last week and runs through Aug. 7.

This year’s theme is Dig Deeper: Investigate, Read, and Discover! The library is getting into the spirit with dinosaur bones welcoming visitors at the front door.

Patrons can participate online by registering with Readsquared at and downloading the Readsquared app. Once registered, log in any books read or listened to. Patrons can also register in person by filling out a registration form and handing it to any staff member.

The youth services program is open to anyone through age 18 who has a library card. Children must complete the daily minute requirement of 20 minutes for up to age 12, and 40 minutes for ages 13-18. For every set of minutes read, children will receive a raffle ticket.

The adult program is open to library card holders ages 16 and older. For the adults, every book read or listened to earn a raffle ticket that can be placed in any of the prize baskets. All raffle tickets will also be automatically entered into the grand prize drawings.
