Thomas Kodat

COAL CITY—Thomas Joseph Kodat, 82, of Coal City, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at Amita Health Medical Center in Glendale Heights, IL.
Thomas was born Sept. 6, 1937 in Morris to Leonard and Mary (Walsh) Kodat. He married Peggy Anderson on Oct. 14, 1961 in Verona.
He was formerly involved in Coal City FFA, formerly in the United States Army, worked at Caterpillar, and was a member and volunteer at the Coal City United Methodist Church. He enjoyed gardening, farming, antiques and garage sales. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and sharing the bounties of his gardens with friends and relatives.
He is survived by his children: Eric (Ann) Kodat, of Coal City; Jeff (Laura) Kodat, of Dallas, TX and Lisa (Tony) Kodat-Lee, of Scotts Valley, CA; six grandchildren: Ethan Kodat, Adam Kodat, Abby Kodat, Noah Kodat, Arabella Lee and Preston Lee; siblings: George (Rita) Kodat, Peter (Ana) Kodat, Phillip (Karen) Kodat and Judy (Richard) Martin. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and “adopted” children and grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife Peggy Kodat.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Coal City United Methodist Church.
A Celebration of Life open house will be held on Sunday, Aug. 1, 2021 at the Coal City United Methodist Church, 6805 E. McArdle Road, Coal City from 1:30 p.m. until the time of Military Honors at 2:30 p.m. A luncheon will follow, also at the church.
