Walter Termain Jr.

BRAIDWOOD—Walter “Rex” Termain Jr., 78, of Braidwood, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Sept. 23, 2021 at Morris Hospital. Born Jan. 18, 1943 in Robinson, IL, he was the son of Walter R. Sr. and Gladys (nee Ditzenberger) Termain. He married Jane Lee Alumbaugh on Feb. 14, 1964 in Robinson. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War. Rex retired from Caterpillar after 33 years of service and was then employed at Whitmore Ace Hardware in Braidwood.
Walter attended River Valley Christian Fellowship in Bradley and was an avid photographer and was a member and former president of the Kankakee Camera Club since 1993, where he received several awards and medals for his photos. He also enjoyed volunteering for the Goose Lake National Prairie in Morris.
Surviving are his daughter, Michelle Lee (Daniel) Beatty, of Westminister, SC; five grandchildren: Scotty Termain Jr., Austin Termain, Christina (Edward) Emrich, Jacob Wicke and Morgan Cox; three great-grandchildren: Hunter Housman, Aubrey Termain and Nova Pearson and nephew, Todd Luce.
Preceding him in death were his parents, wife, Jane Lee Termain (2-10-2008); son, Scotty Joe Termain Sr.; grandson, Michael Wicke and sister, Tessie C. (the late Ernie) Ouderkirk.
Visitation for Rex will be at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Home & Crematory, Braidwood, Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2021 from 4-8 p.m. Funeral services will also be held at the funeral home on Thursday, Sept. 30 at 10 a.m. Interment with military honors will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Braidwood.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Goose Lake Prairie and Partners or the River Valley Christian Fellowship Church.
