Big fourth inning gives Wildcats the win

    The Wilmington varsity baseball team bounced back from a loss on Tuesday, as they secured a win over Kankakee the following day, 11-3.
    It took the Wildcats (4-1 overall) four innings to get on the board, but when they did, they did it in a big way, rallying for nine runs in the bottom of the fourth.
    Sam Jones got things started with a home run, driving in Will Hainline to take a 2-0 advantage.

Lady ‘Cats unable to match top-ranked Morris

    The Wilmington varsity softball team ran into a tough opponent last week when they hosted Morris on Tuesday.
    Morris is currently ranked first in Class 3A by the Illinois Coaches Association polls, ranking above powerhouses like Stillman Valley, Providence Catholic and Bishop McNamara.
    The opposition showed just how formidable they can be, as they defeated the Lady Wildcats 12-4.
    Despite Morris being a powerhouse this year, Wilmington (2-3 overall) held with them for most of the game.

Lady Wildcats pick up two wins, fall to Dwight

    The Wilmington varsity softball team saw their record move back to .500 on the season last Friday, as they suffered a loss to Dwight, 6-1.
    The Lady Wildcats (2-2 overall) held the score close for most of the game, but the Trojans would secure four more runs in the seventh inning to wind up with the lopsided win.
    Lorri Kucharski pitched the first five innings of the game, giving up a two-run homer in the top of the first, where Dwight took the initial 2-0 lead.

Residents asked for input for downtown plan

    The city will host a public kick-off event for the development of a Wilmington Downtown Plan on Wednesday, March 22, beginning at 6 p.m., at city hall. The downtown plan will outline the community’s vision for the future of the downtown as well as the policies and strategies that will allow it to achieve that vision.
