The future of the Interstate Eight Conference is in question as seven of the affiliate schools are considering pulling out to form a new conference.
Coal City High School principal Mitch Hamann informed the Unit 1 Board of Education on Monday that e-mails were sent to the 12 conference schools announcing the seven were in the “looking stages” of pulling out of the Interstate Eight (I-8).
Coal City is among the seven, as are Reed-Custer, Wilmington, Herscher, Lisle, Manteno and Peotone.
